Overview
In this 2024 Cadillac Lyriq review, we will dive deep into the lineup’s list of offerings, its battery options, performance, safety, cabin quality, pricing, warranty, and more, and help you evaluate if this is the right choice for you.
Performance, Engine, and Comfort
Engine & Performance
Cadillac offers a powerful battery pack in this lineup with quick charging facilities. While driving on smooth roads, the ride quality feels even and composed, but it might get a bit jittery on uneven surfaces. Acceleration is good, but we expected it to be more power-packed.
Battery Pack
Lyriq is expected to come with a 102 kWh battery pack. It is supposed to have a driving range of up to 308 miles and 307 miles per charge, for single and dual motor variants respectively.
Transmission
The vehicle uses direct-drive transmission.
Suspension
It’s equipped with front and rear multilink suspension. The suspension in this lineup can be a little on the firmer side, especially when you’re driving through bumpy terrains.
Steering
It has a tilt and telescopic electric-powered heated steering wheel that is well-weighted, but it could have been more responsive.
Safety & Reliability
Brakes
The Lyriq is equipped with a 12.6-inch vented disc for front brakes and a 13.6-inch vented disc for rear brakes. 4-wheel ABS and emergency braking assist are part of the standard safety suite.
Airbags
It has dual front side-mount airbags and head airbags for both front and rear seats.
Electronics
The standard package includes lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, pre and post-collision safety systems, traction control, child seat anchors, and tire pressure monitoring, to mention a few. Adaptive cruise control is available as an optional feature.
Lights
LED headlamps, daytime running lights, cornering lights, dusk sensing headlamps, and self-leveling headlights are available as part of the standard safety package.
Traction control
Traction control is a standard feature in this lineup, which prevents the wheels from losing traction while driving in slippery road conditions.
Fuel Economy
Cadillac Lyriq doesn’t come with a traditional gasoline engine. It runs with the help of a battery pack and as expected of EVs, delivers a good mileage.
Gas per mileage consumption
The rear wheel drive variant offers 92 MPGe and 82 MPGe, on city and highway respectively. With all-wheel drive setup, the numbers will reduce slightly.
Interior
Seats
The front seats have 44.3 inches of legroom with leatherette upholstery, along with height adjustable and power adjustable seats with lumbar support and multi-level heating. The rear seats are equally comfortable, enjoying 39.6 inches of legroom and reclining seats.
Design
The exterior design focuses on creating a sporty look, which is enhanced by the distinct styling of the front grille. The thoughtfully designed cabin looks posh in every possible way. From the blue leather upholstery to the use of noise cancellation technology, Cadillac makes sure the driver and the passengers have a premium experience.
Infotainment
The infotainment system consists of a massive 33-inch display with WiFi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 19-speaker audio system, and USB connection.
Overall height and space
The SUV is 196.7 inches long, 86.9 inches wide, and 63.9 inches in height. The wheelbase is 122 inches, and it has a ground clearance of 7 inches.
Trunk space
When all seats are in place, you’ll get a basic cargo space of 28 cubic feet. This is expandable up to 60.8 cubic feet, which you can achieve by folding down the rear seats.
Price and Extras
Market Price
Cadillac offers 3 different trim levels for the Lyriq lineup—Tech, Luxury, and Sport. While the entry-level trim is well-equipped with features like wireless smartphone charging, fixed glass roof, and faux leather upholstery, we would recommend you to go for the Luxury trim, as it unlocks more premium features, including ambient lighting and hands-free driving. The Sport trim is a good option for those who prefer athletic driving demeanor over composed rides. Some new trim levels will join shortly.
| Trim Level | Base Price |
| Tech | $58,590 |
| Luxury | $62,690 |
| Sport | $63,190 |
AWD/FWD
Rear wheel drive is standard, but you can upgrade to an all-wheel drive setup with an additional fee of $3500.
Warranty
The vehicle is backed by a basic 4-year or 50,000 miles warranty, 6-year or 70,000 miles worth of powertrain warranty, EV battery warranty of 8 years or 100,000 miles, rust warranty of 4 years or 50,000 miles, roadside assistance coverage of 6 years or 70,000 miles, and complimentary maintenance for 1 year.
Extras
When armed with the right equipment, it can tow up to 3500 pounds.
Verdict
In a world of generic SUVs, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq is a breath of fresh air. It has a personality of its own, offers stunning visual appeal, and offers a high driving range to alleviate range anxiety. Additional features like the optional Super Cruise Hands-free driving system make it all the more convenient for drivers who want to enjoy the experience of autonomous driving. For the 2024 lineup, more trim options will join the list, so as a buyer, you’ll have more options to choose from. Overall, the lineup looks promising. If you’re willing to settle for comfortable ride quality over fun rides, you won’t have much to complain about.
